Judy Collins is a renowned singer-songwriter whose exceptional voice and poignant songwriting have inspired audiences for over five decades. Known for her imaginative interpretations of both traditional folk and contemporary songs, she has created a legacy that includes 50 albums and timeless classics like “Both Sides Now” and “Send in the Clowns.” Collins has earned numerous accolades, including Grammy and Latin Grammy nominations, and has been honored by contemporary artists such as Rufus Wainwright and Dolly Parton with tribute albums. In addition to her music career, she is a passionate social activist and author, using her platform to raise awareness for various causes, including mental health and suicide prevention.
Collins’ journey in music began as a classical piano prodigy, but her love for folk music led her to become an influential figure in the Greenwich Village folk scene. Her debut album, A Maid of Constant Sorrow (1961), marked the start of a long and fruitful collaboration with Elektra Records. She has remained a vital artist, constantly evolving and enriching her catalog, with recent projects such as the Grammy-nominated Silver Skies Blue and the collaborative Strangers Again (2015). A filmmaker and writer, Collins has also penned several books, including her memoir Sweet Judy Blue Eyes, and directed an Academy Award-nominated documentary about her classical piano teacher, Antonia Brico. At 77, she continues to create music that offers hope and healing to audiences around the world.
